"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." - Mark Twain
CALLING ALL WRITERS AND STORYTELLERS! The OLD PROS RADIO HOUR is a unique podcast venture featuring original stories written by Laguna Woods residents and local friends, recorded in a new sound booth in the Video Club, and made available for listening over the Internet or downloading to a smartphone. Each podcast is initially about 30 minutes and comprises one or more stories read by experienced Old Pros actors. We are looking for stories with the following criteria:
The story is an original work, published or unpublished, to which you own (and will retain) the copyright and publishing rights.
The story is entertaining, PG-rated, and suitable for a listening audience.
The story is prose, either fact or fiction.
The current guide is 1000-4000 words, but if you have something a bit bigger or smaller that is entertaining, please submit it.
We are also, but not exclusively, looking for stories that fall into these broad categories:
FAMOUS ACQUAINTANCES - Have you met someone famous and do you have an interesting story to tell?
MY CUP IS HALF FULL - A segment comprising the way you manage to get on with life while living with a disability or illness. This segment will be anonymous to protect the author's privacy.
INCREDIBLE FAMILY STORIES - Is there a 'wow' factor in your family's history?
LOST AND FOUND - Did you lose something or someone and find it or them again later?
WAR STORIES - Stories that happened during wartime.
