The Old Pros present an original performance piece, The Making of Jacques Brel is Alive and Well, featuring eleven songs from the original show, at their regular meeting Wednesday, May28th, 2025 at Clubhouse 7 at 7 pm. Gila Zalon directed and wrote the dialogue from the reminiscences of the author, Eric Blau, exploringhow the play came to be. Ms. Zalon also produced the play as dinner theater in Los Angeles at the Century Plaza in 1973 and Washington, D.C. at the Mayflower Hotel in 1972to rave reviews. Actors Jules Zalon, Jean Weitz, Justin Blake and Kathleen Kernahan make up the cast with Ms Kernahan serving as musical director for all the songs. As always, the doors open at 6:30 and the play begins at 7 pm. Remember, members are free, guests are $5 and delicious, complimentary snacks are available.

Due to the overwhelming requests, The Old Pros’ will be proudly presentingThe Dead, again, a one act play adapted from James Joyce’s “The Dubliners” at one of our regular monthly meetings, in the Fall at Clubhouse 7. Produced and directed by Michael Pontecorvo, the play recreates an annual holiday dinner dance in turn of the century Dublin. Check back for more details.

The Old Pros of Laguna Woods is a theater and educational group that works to bring quality stage and musical productions to our community. Established in 2004, it provides a broad range of theatrical opportunities for everyone, whether they are seasoned professionals or stepping into the theatrical world for the first time. Every year, The Old Pros puts on an array of multi-media entertainment to reach thousands of Laguna Woods residents and beyond. In addition to presenting mainstage productions at the 814-seat Laguna Woods Performing Arts Center, the Old Pros has monthly education and entertainment meetings, an original soap opera on the local TV channel, and weekly podcast of stories. Laguna Woods is an active retirement community with more than nineteen thousand senior residents.
