The Old Pros of Laguna Woods

The Old Pros’ program for Wednesday, January 22nd challenges the imagination of both the actors and the audience. The actors play two or three different characters in 4 different scenes by four different playwrights. It challenges the audience to see the different characters in each scene, even though they inhabit the same body.

Add some music to the mix and you’ve got…Schizo! Multiple personalities wrapped up in a single costume.

The scenes are from Anton Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard, Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, Tennessee Williams’ Streetcar Named Desire and Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. Our actors are Lee MacMorris, Jules Zalon, Jean Reitz and Al Glover, and our musicians are Mark Hochberg and Sharone Rosen.

As always, the doors open at 6:30 and the play begins at 7 pm. Remember, members are free, guests are $5 and delicious, complimentary snacks are available.

The Old Pros Holiday Show "Peace on Earth" Tuesday December 10th Clubhouse 7 at 7pm.

The Old Pros close their performance year with an evening of music, song, stories, skits and laughter. Come join us as we share memories of our favorite winter holidays. There will be snacks and of course, come for the wine and stay for the show. Members are free while guests are only $5.

Also, take advantage of the 2024 annual membership bargain for 2025. Pay before December 31st at the current rate of $20.00 for a single membership and $30 for couples. Starting January 2025, the single membership will be $25.00, while couples will pay $40. Still, with the wine at each event, it's a bargain.

With 17 different performers, the Old Pros Cornucopia of Talent will go from Fats Domino to I, Claudius with a stop for Noah and God, to Movies, Movies and a Classic Johnny Carson skit onstage at the Old Pro’s, Wednesday, November 27th at 7 pm in Clubhouse 7. And, for the Holiday, guests are Free.

There will be something for everyone in a fun filled Holiday Performance. If you have family or friends visiting, bring them along for free – our Holiday present to you.

The Old Pros invite you to dress in Shakespearean costume when you come to enjoy Shakespeare’s Women: An Evening with Julia Lupton and Ava Burton Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 7:00 PM at Clubhouse 7.
Professor Julia Lupton, Distinguished Professor of English at UC Irvine, will share insights into the plays and their themes. Actor Ava Burton will perform monologues that bring these women to life.
Whether in costume or jeans, doors open at 6:30 pm, the show begins at 7 pm. Members are free, guests are $5. Wine and snacks are free. Come for the wine, stay for the show.

Auditions will be held at the PAC, Monday, November 4th, 1 - 3 Pm for a four person play directed by Gila Zalon, in which each person plays all the roles in his/her play. So sharpen your acting chops and audition.

The Old Pros presents

The Old Pros of Laguna Woods is a theater and educational group that works to bring quality stage and musical productions to our community. Established in 2004, it provides a broad range of theatrical opportunities for everyone, whether they are seasoned professionals or stepping into the theatrical world for the first time. Every year, The Old Pros puts on an array of multi-media entertainment to reach thousands of Laguna Woods residents and beyond. In addition to presenting mainstage productions at the 814-seat Laguna Woods Performing Arts Center, the Old Pros has monthly education and entertainment meetings, an original soap opera on the local TV channel, and weekly podcast of stories. Laguna Woods is an active retirement community with more than nineteen thousand senior residents.
